A yogi is the one who commits all his life for the love of yoga. But what about those guys who like to sneak in few times in a yoga studio and do little yoga training? Are they yogis too? Well, a big NO. Being a yogi is something more than just a casual training, it is a regular practice and lifelong commitment.
In terms of practice and training, a yogi is someone who at least does yoga for 3 days per week. But if we talk more practically, 3 days or more per week does not make you a yogi, but the attraction towards it in and out the week binds it to the person. Even, it is recommended to make a habit of doing yoga training more often to reap the greatest benefits. Yoga in the West is more or less contained into asana and pranayama; however, we take a look at the variety of yoga classes practiced in Asia, we will be amazed to see what yoga really is and how broader it is. Qualities and Lifestyle of a Yogi A yogi is someone who does not just know a variety of yoga poses; he possesses other virtues of truthfulness, kindness, compassion, and patience. Yogi has a clear and focused way of practicing and has full control over his movements and poses. It is taught that a yogi should have a loving nature, a simple lifestyle, and a healthy diet plan. How to Become One? There is no single or specific route to become a yogi. However, there is a set of rules which can be followed to gain the qualities of a yogi.
